Taking more watery fruits, juices and avoiding unhygienic food
outside will help overcome the heat, for this summer.
As typhoid and jaundice are
closely related to the summer, avoiding outside food will avoid most of
the problems during the hot season, said Meenakshi Bajaj, Nutritionist. And buttermilk, vegetable soup, fruit juices with less sugar will keep the body hydrated.
Dr
Kousalya Nathan, Lifestyle and anti-ageing consultant of Nova Specialty
Hospitals said, “People should wash face without soap at least five
times a day and one should apply sunscreen half an hour before going
out.”
“In order to avoid direct exposure to sun, one should wear full sleep cloth,” she added.People
should take at least 2.5 litres of water, four glasses of buttermilk
with a pinch of salt and flax seed powder, three glasses of tender
coconut a day to keep the body cool. Avoiding fried items, more masala
foods and heavy meals is also necessary, she said.Having a bowl
full of water fruits like water melon at night and encouraging liquid
based food are the easy simple home made ways to while away the summer,
Dr Kousalya added.
